FAIR and NICE (National Initiative for Civic Education, Malawi) are currently concluding the very first model project. Statistics have been collected from all centers showing promising figures: During one year, a rough estimate of 47 people have gained computer access per computer, and the 5 centers have reached out to roughly 11,000 people.
We know that there are many things to improve in coming project models, but the first project is proving to be a success in terms of these simple indicators. Further experiences have been collected in the 2011 midterm evaluation, and a final evaluation will be conducted in 2012.

The following report describes the activity at 5 educational computer centers in Malawi. The centers were setup in April 2011 in a joint effort between Malawian organization NICE (National Initiative for Civic Education), FAIR Denmark (FAIR Allocation of Infotech Resources) and the individual center hosts. After 1½ years of activity, data was collected for all the centers at once.
